Kristen Lemoine, AntiGravity Fitness Instructor and owner of Palm Beach Athletic Wear & Yoga has 3 TIPS TO HELP YOU CLEAN OUT YOUR WORKOUT WARDROBE
1. STAINS & THE SNIFF TEST
Your workout clothes have been put through many serious sweat sessions and if you are holding onto your stained or ripped yoga leggings because they are your favorite – just toss them out.
2. FIT
Comfort is key when it comes to your wardrobe and ill-fitting or worn-out workout clothing is no exception! If you constantly find that you are pulling up your yoga pants and your sports bra is no longer smelling so fresh and clean it’s time to feed it to the trash bin. How about those pieces that you hope to fit into again one day? Just get rid of them or donate them to a local charity if they are still in excellent condition.
3. JUST SAY NO TO SEE THROUGH YOGA PANTS
If you’ve found yourself behind someone with see-through yoga pants (I hope you told them) you don’t want that to happen to you. Leggings that are too small or worn out and have expired the stretch factor can reveal more than you want to share in downward facing dog. I recommend the bend-over test. I never buy a pair of leggings or yoga pants without testing it out right there in the dressing room. Do a few moves you would normally do in your workout to make sure you are buying the right active-wear for how you move. If those sleek leggings become too sheer when bending over or don’t stay put in a squat, find another pair. When cleaning out your active-wear collection it’s a good idea to get in front of a mirror and strike your best forward fold and make sure that you are not sharing more of YOU than you’d like to. You may be surprised and embarrassed if you possess a few pairs of these, but that’s water under the bridge. Get rid of them and don’t let it happen again!
